Robert

Robert studies for a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Kyambogo University. His focus is on marketing and sales management and he is eagerly awaiting graduation this September.

He joined Suubi Africa Youth in 2021 during the Pre-Gap year program that had a series of classes and trainings ranging from the Leadership Class, Work for Life, Bible Studies, Legal awareness class, tailoring, glassmaking to hairdressing.

These programs had a significant impact on Robert’s life and his perspective on life has changed. Previously convinced that large investments were the key to success, Robert now believes that even small ventures can be successful with minimal capital.

Using this newfound knowledge, he saved up a modest sum of 500,000 Ugandan shillings and started a small chapati business in Gimbo near his home. Encouraged by the initial success of this endeavor, he expanded his operations to another nearby town, opening another venture focused on selling chips and chicken.

A friend took notice of Robert’s achievements and offered assistance to help him start more small businesses.

Robert attributes all this success to the knowledge, life skills and character building that he gained during the SAY pregap year program. He hopes to make a difference and help solve the rampant unemployment challenge in his area.
