Future is a talented young man who was a full time student with us this year with The Hope of Africa South Africa. In 2021, Future volunteered at a Community project through his local church and worked with our agriculture outreach team. This year Future was selected to join our full time discipleship, skills training, and business classes through Hope of Africa’s Youth Leadership Program.

Meet Future

Future was given the training to start his own sustainable business in agriculture. He now manages his own garden at home and has helped stabilize his own household, made up of a single mother and several siblings. We are excited to continue to journey with Future next year, providing him ongoing mentorship both in his God given dreams and goals and with his business. Future will also continue his apprenticeship work with our South African communications team next year.

A few years ago Future found a drumming group in his village that was not working well. This caught his attention because he learned drumming in primary and secondary school. Future came alongside the older lady who founded the group and began to teach them what he knew. Over time, he was also able to get them funding to buy drums instead of barrels.

This drumming group exists to provide a safe family and discipleship for vulnerable youth, ages 8-18. Future takes what he has learned during his time with Hope of Africa and uses it to reach out to them when they meet for practice.

During the week the drumming group practices after school and on the weekends they perform at weddings, funerals, and other events. This group has created a community for the kids. They get love, structure, the Gospel, and are held accountable for their behavior. Future would like to start other drumming groups to reach out to many more school aged students.
